Cold April in Iceland

It looks like April is going to be one of the coldest in Iceland for many years and that has affected the fishing in our Minnivallalækur river. But despite conditions we are catching fish like well-known angler Nils Jörgensen did one day in last week and he did send us the following status report from the lodge:

"I attached a picture which is unclear but we could not keep the snow and rain off the lens. It is really a shame see the 82 cm is really a cracking looking fish.
Our status so far is:
Jarla: 74 cm and one broken line
Bent: Broken line on a big one. Landed 2,8 kg
Tom: Two straightende hooks
Nilz: 82 cm"

And Tungulækur has been good with sea-trout fishing but getting a little slower as we get closer near May. So far around 400 fish has been caught and
still mainly fished only overe the weekends so it is a great statistic by any standard. Prime time again is in September and to 20. October and ideal  to combine in September with "Minni" or our two salmon rivers Breiðdalsá and Jökla  further east from  Tungulækur.

In May we start to fish for sea-run arctic char and brown trout in those rivers but not for salmon not untill 1. July. Few days here and there are still available for salmon fishing as well in July-September. Dont hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to make the perfect fishing trip.
