SINCE THE LAST newsletter in May, winter continued to linger into the early summer here on the east coast of Iceland. At the head of the Breiðdalsá valley the lake which forms the source of the river was still frozen over in mid-June. The surrounding mountain tops are still white and
there are good reserves lying packed in the corries. This should (hopefully) keep us going with water into August.

AS WITH most of Europe, the spring has been a long time in coming here in Iceland and there are only signs of its arrival beginning to show now. There were two consecutive days of sunshine last week, so we hope it’s the start of something!
