Record July month

Nice fish last week below the falls in Breiðdalsá riverNice fish last week below the falls in Breiðdalsá riverJuly looks to be one of the best on record at Breiddalsa, with 300 in the book (80 more than at the same time last year) and there is still another week to go. The opening month of the season has shown great improvements over the last three seasons and is now producing almost as many fish as August or September. What gives the July fishing an extra star for quality is the size of fish as they are mostly fresh run 2SW salmon.

First-time visitor Richard Marshall enthused about his week. "I have just spent the most wonderful week in Iceland. I thought the Lodge perfect, the food excellent & the fishing out of this world. The Lodge staff were most helpful especially your wife & family. All the fish I caught were in excellent condition, often covered with sea lice & were very good sport."

First fish from one of the smaller Jöklu tributaries named Fögruhlíðará and is approx. 19lb!First fish from one of the smaller Jöklu tributaries named Fögruhlíðará and is approx. 19lb!The story is a similar one up at the Jökla. Despite being lightly booked the system has produced 100 salmon already, mostly 2SW fish. This is the ideal choice if you wish to fish a variety of water for a couple of days, or add a day or two on to a Breiðdalsa week.  If Arctic char of interest, the Jökla is definitely worth the trip. Few last minute openings are possible in August and September in boht rivers.

And soon we start to fish sea-trout in Tungulækur river with peak time later in the summer and in the fall till 20. October when season close for sea-trout. This fishing is definently worth the trip even for 2-3 days and is by far the sea-trout river in Iceland. Please enquiry.
