Action in Tungulækur sea-trout river, tremendous fishing has been there the first days of the seasonOften the fishing has been great the first day of the season in the best sea-trout river in in Iceland named Tungulækur, but 300 fish the first three days is one of the best ever! Huge number of sea-trout are in the middle and lower part of the river and catches opening days 1 - 3 April where outstanding on the 3 - 4 rods fishing then. Prime time is in April and again in September till the river close again 20.October and we still have some vagancies for the excellent fall fishing we can offer to our clients and friends.
Trophy trout fishing for brown trout started also but that fishing is more challenging than Tungulækur fishing, two fish were reported in „Minni“ the first day 1. April and one was 60 cm long, or about 7-8 lb. But few more fish have been caugth since this week including one up to 11 lb, a really big fish!
Still few remain openings for our salmon fishing in 2012, like in Jökla first week July and also in end July, Hrútafjarðará 3 rod river with rare opening 2-4 days 23-27 August and Breiðdalsá first week July and early and late September are still some rods left. And I would also like to mentione that we have this winter made new contracts for the fishing rights for most of our rivers for the next 10 years so we are proud to be able to offer the same excellent fishing on a long term basis. Most operatours and outfitters can only get few years contract each time for a good salmon and trout river, but our co-operation with landowners association of each river has been excellent as well as Strengir own most the fishing lodges on the rivers we offer, has made this possible.
